What is the Templeton Translation Subsidy Program?

A primary area of interest of the Templeton Foundation Press is to publish books in the realm of theology and spirituality, particularly researched, written or otherwise supported by the scientific and/or academic community. The Templeton Publishing Subsidy Program was founded in 2006 to ofer assitance to other publishers developing projects in the area of science and religion.

In order to encourage and assist publishers interested in these goals, a grant from the John Templeton Foundation has been given to support publishing and translation costs of books that support the Templeton Foundation Press' interest in science and religion.

Supporting the publication of books covering research and discoveries in the field of science and religion will increase the impact of the work of the John Templeton Foundation and others, thus furthering the mission of the Foundation to expand spiritual information worldwide. By encouraging the publication and translation of books in mission-driven areas, the Foundation would be supporting a continuing growth of scholarship and research. The books that are published will be providing ideas and information to the next generation of scholars. In addition, the support of translating important texts into other languages encourages an international dialogue and expands the global impact of the intellectual conversations. One of the most important ways of reaching academic opinion leaders worldwide is through the publication and dissemination of scholarly books on topics related to the intersection of science and religion.
